Mounting, Connecting and button usage for REEL

This document will show the function of each button on the back of REEL.

Before using REEL, you must mount and connect it to PRISM Sky. NEVER POWER ON THE DRONE BEFORE CONNECTING REEL.

"Hot plugging" REEL can cause damage to it and require it to be sent back to Watts Innovations for repair.

Installing REEL Mount C to PRISM Sky

First you must install REEL Mount C to the bottom of PRISM Sky in order for REEL to attach to the aircraft. Please follow the steps below to install REEL Mount C.

Remove the 12mm payload rails from PRISM Sky

Line up REEL Mount C with the payload mounting rails and mounting brackets

Slide the 12mm payload rails through the mounting brackets and REEL Mount C. Center REEL Mount C between the 12mm payload mounts and tighten all bolts to 11in-lbs.

Mounting REEL to PRISM Sky

Follow the instructions below for mounting REEL to PRISM Sky.

Align REEL with REEL Mount C

Slide REEL onto REEL Mount C via the dove tail mount and pull down on the black pin release knobs.

Align the REEL release pins with the mating holes on REEL Mount C and insert the pins into REEL Mount C. MAKE SURE THE PINS ARE FULLY SEATED INTO REEL MOUNT C BEFORE FLYING

Connecting REEL to PRISM Sky

First, connect the included Winch Cable to the back of PRISM Sky as shown. Fully tighten the connector.

Second, connect the included Winch Cable to the back of REEL as shown. Fully tighten the connector.

Both connectors fully tightened and installed. Always confirm both connectors are fully tight before flying.

Button Meanings

On the back of REEL you will find three buttons. On the far left is the Blue Eject Mode button, in the middle is a Red Freewheel Mode button and the far right is a Green Deliver Mode button. Below are their explanations and how they work.

Eject Mode: Press the blue button one time move the eject pins into the “open position”. After you load the package or payload, press the blue button again to move the eject pins into the “closed position”.

Freewheel Mode: Press the red button one time to present the hook. In freewheel mode you can pull the hook out as far as you want. If there is a knot in the line on the spool, you can use the Freewheel mode to pull the hook out and clear the line. Press the red button again and the line will be wound back onto the spool. Take note to apply pressure on the line when spooling back onto the spool to ensure a tight, evenly wound spool.

Deliver Mode: Press the green button one time to unlock and present the hook and load a package onto the hook. Press the green button a second time to pull the hook back into the winch.
