Remote ID is the ability of a drone in flight to provide identification and location information that can be received by other parties.

Three ways pilots can meet the Remote ID requirement:

PRISM Sky utilizes Standard Remote ID (built-in) for incorporating Remote ID information into its system. The method involves embedding the Remote ID information into Wi-Fi Beacon frames, which can be detected by any device that scans for nearby Wi-Fi networks. This means that anyone within range of the drone will be able to access the drone's Remote ID information.

Remote ID Data Broadcasted

PRISM Sky transmits the essential ID information, the drone's location, and system messages from the ground control station (GCS) in each Wi-Fi Beacon frame. The Remote ID agent broadcasts the following information from takeoff to shutdown:

  • UA Type

  • UA Serial Number

  • UA Operational Status (On Ground, Airborne, Emergency)

  • UA Latitude, Longitude & Altitude

  • UA Velocity, Speed & Direction)

  • UA Time mark

  • Operator Location Type (Dynamic)

  • Operator Latitude, Longitude & Elevation

  • Operator Time mark

Scope of Compliance

WARNING: The FAA-accepted Declaration of Compliance (DOC) for Watts Innovations PRISM Sky, in its current form, is reflective only in the configurations listed below. Changing any critical components (i.e. Device, Rx/Tx, Software/Firmware, Location Source, Location Type, Broadcast Method, FCC Identifier) of the tested and currently accepted Remote ID configuration would make the Remote ID system non-compliant and out of the manufacturers specifications. Users cannot combine any of the below configurations with other hardware or software configurations not listed below. *Remote ID for PRISM Sky can only be enabled by the manufacturer (e.g. Watts Innovations Inc).

Accepted GCS Configuration

  • Device = PC, laptop or tablet w/ Windows 10 or Ubuntu (only)

  • Rx:

    • Wi-Fi or LTE Cellular Data (Elisght Halo only)

  • Software:

    • Watts AMC 1.0.4 (or newer)

  • Location Source = Built-in or external USB GPS device with SBAS (WAAS augmentation) and NMEA Protocol (only)

  • Location Type = Dynamic (only)

Accepted Aircraft Configuration

  • Aircraft = PRISM Sky

  • Tx:

  • Firmware:

    • AuterionOS for PRISM Sky version 1.2.4 (or newer)

  • Broadcast Method = Wi-Fi Beacon Frames

  • FCC Identifier = 2AKZA-QCA9377

NOTE: In addition to the above Accepted Configurations a hardware change is required for all PRISM Sky aircrafts, including all variants to meet the Scope of Compliance for our accepted DOC. All PRISM Sky aircrafts, including all variants, purchased prior to February 14th, 2023 are responsible to be compliant by purchasing an FAA accepted Broadcast Module to mount to their aircraft. For any PRISM Sky aircraft, including variants, purchased prior to February 14th, 2023 that desire to meet compliance through our FAA Accepted DOC must contact Watts Innovations for further instructions. Only Watts Innovations can enable remote ID on PRISM Sky, including all variants.
