Pre-Flight Self-Test (PFST)

The Remote ID System (RIDS) designed in PRISM Sky will automatically initiate a Pre-Flight Self-Test (PFST) upon powering on both the GCS and aircraft. The explanation of usage and limitations will be provided in the user instructions and also covered in the sections that cover the Remote ID status indicator explanation.

The PFST displays the status of this test while also informing the operator the results through a unique color changing indicator located in the vehicle status bar in the AMC flight application at the top-right of the Fly Screen, easily identified by the word “Remote ID” underneath what looks like a fingerprint.

The PFST unique indicator and results that inform the operator the RIDS is functioning and configured properly is explained in greater detail below.

Remote ID Status Explained

Orange = Initialized

The Remote ID system is in the initialized state. The Remote ID application on Skynode has not yet received any messages from both APX4 and AMC. This is due to either of the following:

  • The GCS has no position fix, either because the GPS device is not configured properly or the signal quality is not sufficient enough.

  • APX4 is not communicating to the Remote ID application on the flight computer which is likely due to an out of date APX4 version.

The GCS position can be checked by tapping on the green Remote ID status indicator in Watts AMC. If the Latitude, Longitude and Altitude fields are populated but the Status displays the word “Initialized,” this means that the GCS is ready but is still waiting for the Aircraft to complete its initialization.

Green = Success

The Remote ID system is in the success (“ready-to-go”) state. The Remote ID application on Skynode has received messages from both APX4 and AMC.

The GCS position can be checked by tapping on the green Remote ID status indicator in Watts AMC. If the Latitude, Longitude and Altitude fields are populated and the Status displays the word “Success,” this means the RIDS has successfully passed the Pre-flight Self-test (PFST), indicates that both the GCS and Aircraft are functioning properly while notifying the person manipulating the controls of the aircraft the vehicle is ready for flight.

Red = Failure

The Remote ID system is in the failure state. The Remote ID application on Skynode has stopped receiving messages from either APX4 and AMC.

The GCS position can be checked by tapping on the red Remote ID status indicator in Watts AMC. If the Latitude, Longitude and Altitude fields are populated and the Status displays the word “Failure,” this means the RIDS was in the success state and then encountered an error during operation.

Gray = Not supported

A gray Remote ID icon in AMC means that there is no support for Remote ID on the drone. The most likely reason is that AMC was updated with a new version supporting Remote ID, but AuterionOS has not. Resolve by updating AuterionOS on the corresponding vehicle.
