Making your PRISM Sky Remote ID Compliant

This document will help you make your PRISM Sky Remote ID Compliant if your aircraft was produced before December 16th, 2022.

To install the Remote ID Antenna; you must first remove the bottom canopy, the payload rails, the battery receptacles and the top canopy.

Step 1: Remove the top canopy by loosening the M3 bolts on the payload rail mounts, the battery receptacle bolts, the handle bolts; then sliding out the battery receptacle rails, removing both the handle and the battery receptacles.

Loosen the circled yellow bolts.
Loosen the circled yellow bolts.

Loosen all 4 of these bolts on the payload rail mounts.

Some battery rails fit tighter in the battery receptacles than others; in some cases you might need to use a pin to push the rail out of battery receptacle itself.

Step 2: Remove the 4 canopy bolts circled in black below, the canopy can now be removed. Carefully unplug the canopy fans from the connectors that they are plugged into.

Remove all 4 M3x8 canopy screws and then remove the canopy from the aircraft.

Step 3: Unplug and remove the small WiFi patch antenna circled in red from the front of Skynode.

Step 5: Completely remove the 4 M4x8 bolts circled in yellow below to remove the payload rails.

Step 6: Rotate all four canopy knobs to remove the bottom canopy. Remove the bottom canopy from the aircraft. Place a foam block under the aircraft to support the canopy so it is not dangling from the wires.

Canopy latch in the secured position. Rotate it 180 degrees in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

Installing the antenna mount + antenna extension:

Step 1: Remove the two bolts circled in green that thread into the front right arm socket.

Remove the two M3x12mm button head bolts circled in green.

Step 2: Install the Remote ID Antenna mount (with antenna extension pre-installed) and use the two new supplied bolts. These bolts are longer. Install with Blue 243 Loctite and tighten to a torque of 5.7 in-lbs.

Install with Blue 243 Loctite and tighten to a torque of 5.7 in-lbs.

Step 3: Thread on the antenna; tighten to 8 lb-lbs.

Tighten the antenna to 8 in-lbs.

Step 4: Remove the circled grommet from the bottom plate as well as the corresponding grommet on the top plate.

Replace the yellow circled grommet with one of the grommets included in the antenna kit.

Step 7: Thread the antenna extension wire through one of the supplied grommets and then thread it into the open/bottom hole on the bottom plate. Gently guide the wire through the main frame until it protrudes out of the top plate. Insert one of the new grommets into the top plate. Then, insert the extension into the front of Skynode.

Thread the extension through the grommet.
Thread the extension through the frame and insert the grommet into the bottom hole.

Step 8: Organize the GPS Extension wire and the Remote ID Antenna extension wire in a velcro strap to keep the wires in place while flying.

At this point the top canopy and bottom canopy can be re-installed. We recommend first re-installing the bottom canopy, then the payload mounts, then top canopy and finally installing the battery receptacles last. Please be sure to update the aircraft to the latest AOS to have Remote ID functionality.
